                              A UK charity founded in 1987, Barakat Trust operates for educational and heritage purposes focusing on the heritage of the Islamic world. They provide scholarships and grants for study and research projects, as well as supporting conservation and documentation work, travel for research and education, and training programmes.                               The Center for Contemporary Art Kitakyushu, a world centre for study and research in contemporary art based in southwest Japan, operates a Fellowship Programme for young artists and researchers (up to the age of 40) working in art, curatorial work, design or architecture.                               apexart > Open Call for Exhibition Proposals (United States)

                              apexart have launched an open call for artists, curators, and other professionals who want to turn their idea into an exhibition at their gallery in New York. Proposals are invited from anywhere in the world, except for New York City itself. Winning proposals will become part of apexart’s 2020-21 Exhibition Season and receive production funding and significant production support. There is no set theme, but the exhibition can't be a solo exhibition or 'artist project'. Deadline: 1 March 2020.

                              Indonesian Arts and Scholarship Programme 2020

                              The Indonesian Arts and Culture Scholarship (IACS) programme lasts for three months, running 2 May – 15 August 2020. During the programme, awardees will be divided into six groups placed at different art centres located in six provinces: Bali, West Sumatra, East Kalimantan, East Java, South Sulawesi, and Yogyakarta. Candidates should be between the ages of 21 to 27 years old. Deadline: 14 February 2020.

                              Open Call for Biofriction Residency (Spain, Portugal, Slovenia and Finland)

                              Biofriction is a Creative Europe project realised in collaboration with Hangar (ES), Cultivamos Cultura (PT), Kersnikova Institute (SI) and the Bioart Society (FI), committed to supporting bioart and biohacking practices. The anisers are looking for projects in the field of experimentation with biomaterials and living systems, with a special emphasis on transhack feminism as an approach (or method multiplier) to repoliticize feminism through (bio)practice. It is aimed at researchers, artists, developers, hackers and members of collectives of all ages (over 18 years old) and nationalities working in the field of bioexperimentation.                               Digital Lab Africa, a platform for creative innovation in Africa, has launched a call for projects that targets artists, producers, designers, start-ups, and students in the media and creative industries. This call is open to anyone from Sub-Saharan Africa having an innovative project falling into one or more of five categories: digital art, immersive realities, video games, animation, and music.                               Ulyanovsk UNESCO City of Literature has announced an open call for their International Literary Residency for writers and artists from the UNESCO Literary Cities Network. The residency lasts one month, running 1-30 September 2020, and invites applications from writers, poets, translators, playwrights, screenwriters, etc., as well as artists of all genres (illustrators, film directors, film makers, visualisation artists, photographers, etc.) who are implementing literary projects. Applicants must come from one of the UNESCO Cities of Literature. Deadline: 30 April 2020.

                              RUCKA / MoKS / Film på Gotland / Bergmanscenter > Open call for Female Filmmakers Network (Sweden, Estonia, Latvia)

                              The Female Filmmaker Network aims to bring together female filmmakers – directors, producers, cinematographers, sound recordists, editors and others – from Estonia, Latvia and Sweden. The Network has launched an open call for filmmakers from these three countries to attend three workshops: in Cesis, Latvia, 31 May - 3 June; in Mooste, Estonia, 19-22 July 2020; and in Gotland, Sweden, 27-30 September 2020. Alongside exploring relevant issues, these workshops hope to foster future collaborative projects. Deadline: 14 February 2020.

                              ADAM > Artist Lab 2020 Open Call, ‘On Site: Rehearsing Concurrence and Its (Im)Possibilities’ (Taiwan)

                              A key project of Taipei Performing Arts Center, ADAM (Asia Discovers Asia Meeting for Contemporary Performance) works to build a network and platform for cross-culture cooperation and interdisciplinary work. The 2020 Artist Lab, open to artists of all disciplines and nationalities, will take place 19 July - 17 August 2020. The title is ‘On Site: Rehearsing Concurrence and Its (Im)Possibilities’, with artists invited to rethink site as 'a method to create, as a situation to rehearse, and as a concurrent embodiment to inhabit among others'.
